POLARIS UPRISING RULES
Match Duration: 7 minutes
Victory Methods: Win by Submission, Points, or Referee Decision if tied
Scoring: 1 Point Each for:
Takedown
Guard Pass
Back Control (including body triangle)
Mount
Sweep
Stalling Rules:
If a single competitor stalls, the referee will start a timer.
30 seconds: Official warning
Next 30 seconds: The other competitor can choose a dominant position (Back, Side Control, Mount)
If both competitors stall:
Referee starts a timer.
30 seconds: Official warning
Next 30 seconds:
If stalling is on the ground, both will stand up.
If stalling is standing, both will start from a combat base position half a meter apart.
If both get warnings but only one continues to stall, the rules for a single stall apply.
In a case where one is seated and the other is trying to pass, the one moving backward is deemed to be stalling.
Stalling calls reset when the athletes stop stalling.
Further Clarification
Pulling Guard: Must start with contact.
Stalling: Not advancing or making serious attempts to score.
Loss of Position: No points for the opponent if they rise during a submitted attack.
Double Guard Pull: Standing up from this position does not earn a point.
Takedowns: Must keep the opponent's back, side, or butt on the mat for 3 seconds. If they avoid a takedown by kneeling, the attacker can move to a control position to score.
Pass Guard: Must go past the opponent's legs and maintain control for 3 seconds.
Back Control: Must have both hooks or legs triangled for 3 seconds with upper body control.
Mount: Can be face up or face down with clear legs.
Sweep: Any position change from bottom to top must be held for 3 seconds. Reversals do not earn points. No advantages for close attempts or lost positions.
Referee Setup: Main referee on the mat with competitors wearing red or blue wristbands. The ref signals points using the appropriate color and hand gestures. In case of a draw, the ref decides the winner.
ILLEGAL MOVES/TECHNIQUES
All belt levels:
No eye gouging or fish hooking
No grabbing fingers, ears, hair, toes, or other small body parts
No posting on faces or one-handed grip on windpipe
No slamming above 50 cm (high impact throws/takedowns are fine)
Blue belt & juvenile rules:
No heel hooks
No spinal locks (like twisters)
No rotational foot locks (such as Aoki, toe holds, Woj lock)
All other leg locks allowed (straight foot lock, knee bar)
No neck cranks
